Safety Officer Honorary Awards: Police, Fire, EMS
The Law Enforcement, Fire Safety or Emergency Medical Service Commendation Award may be awarded to any individual in these areas who has served with distinction and devotion or for outstanding accomplishments or contributions to protect the community. Additionally, there is a Heroism award for outstanding bravery or self-sacrifice in the face of danger and risk to the recipient. This award may be given to a public safety officer but is primarily intended for those non-public servants who demonstrate heroic action to help others.
These awards are not awarded annually but are awarded whenever a true candidate surfaces for consideration. The chairman of the Awards Committee supervises the nominating process and the awarding of certificates or medals. However, anyone, member or not, may bring a candidate to the Award Committees attention.
Often, the winner of the award will also be the Honored Guest of the WRSSAR at one of our luncheons or dinners and his or her meal will be provided free of charge.
Given the infrequency of this honor, those candidates who win this award are among a select few and are most deserving of public commendation.
If you know of anyone in the law enforcement, Fire or EMS profession who deserves special praise for his/her dedication, sacrifice or service, please contact us so that we can consider your nomination: firstname.lastname@example.org
